What Will the Strategic Transportation Plan Do?

Overall, the Strategic Transportation Plan will look at the entire transportation system. Everything is connected – so the ripple effect of impacts from one transportation need on others must be evaluated. The plan has multiple goals:

• Develop a mathematical model that forecasts person-trips in order to evaluate the magnitude of impacts caused by all types of travel.
  
  
• Understand and address community values.
  
  
• Prioritize transportation enhancements.

The STP will not tell us exactly what needs to be done in each travel shed, but it will identify the travel sheds in need of greatest attention and a list of options. Decisions about how to accommodate person trips in a given travel shed will be made after detailed study and discussion, and as funding is obtained.
